When selecting the correct size of the instrument, it's essential to consult with your local music store or music teacher. The Hidersine Piacenza Violin is available in both full size and 3/4 size variants, catering to players of different ages and sizes.

Your Piacenza outfit includes a Half-Mounted Bulletwood bow, a crucial component for producing sound. Simply tighten the bow's hair, apply the provided Hidersine rosin, and you'll be ready to play, just like the instrument itself, which is set up and ready to go from the moment you receive it.

Looks and sounds more beautiful throughout its life:

Hidersine Piacenza instruments feature a hand-carved solid spruce top – or sound-table. This is important because your instrument’s primary voice is formed by this sound-table, and therefore the top can resonate as a single, coherent structure and sound great as a result. Plus, as the wood ages and the solid tonewood top gradually relaxes at a cellular level into its natural rest state, it will resonate even more naturally, and the sound will improve further.

Hidersine Piacenza instruments not only have a solid top, but they also have a stunning solid, flamed Maple ribs and backs too. These highly figured, solid tonewood sections further enhance the instrument’s natural tone. The top produces the instrument’s primary voice, and the back and sides add the character.

(The term ‘Flamed’ refers to the figuring of the Maple grain, which looks like flames striking across the wood. Maple with a natural ‘flame’ is highly prized, with the most intricate and stunning natural grain patterns demanding very high prices throughout the world of musical instruments.)

It’s important to understand the hand-carved element of the Piacenza’s construction. Although most musical instruments have a fair amount of human input in their building process, unsurprisingly instruments created for the entry-level tend to have much higher levels of machine-made elements. While this makes the process efficient, it can take away from the individual ‘soul’ of each instrument. Each mark from the luthier’s carving tools are there for a specific reason. The amount of time taken to carve the arched tops and back of a violin is integral to their structure – lightness and strength - and the resulting tone. Luthiers have been passing their learned skill down the generations for centuries, and in the case of Hidersine Piacenza instruments, the skilled hand-carving techniques can begin to be truly appreciated.

Ebony - Feels great, plays great:

Hidersine Piacenza violins and violas both benefit from a genuine Ebony fingerboard, pegs and chin rest. This prized hardwood has traditionally been used for hundreds of years due to its truly long-lasting properties. Unlike dark-stained or ‘ebonized’ softwoods often used on inferior instruments, genuine Ebony will not mark, pit or wear out under lengthy playing periods. This is essential in areas such as the pegs, which are under a lot of tension from the strings. The shaft of each peg needs to be retain its integrity, and using Ebony is one of the best ways to ensure this. Ebony should remain structurally sound for a very long time, and it will also feel smooth on the fingers and chin, helping make the playing experience more pleasant all round.

Spend $129 or more in a single order and receive FREE tracked shipping Australia-wide. You'll receive tracking information by email once your order has been dispatched.

Express Shipping is a fully tracked priority Express Service offered through Australia Post and Team Global Express. A tracking number will be provided once your order has been shipped. Please allow approximately 1–2 business days for metro areas and additional time for regional and remote destinations, including some areas of WA, NT and North QLD.

Standard Shipping is a fully tracked service offered through Australia Post. Tracking information will be provided once your order has been shipped. Please allow 2–6 business days for delivery of your order. NT and WA customers should allow approximately 6–8 business days.

Courier Shipping is available to most areas across Australia, with deliveries handled by CouriersPlease, Aramex, Team Global Express or another suitable courier partner, depending on your location. Please allow approximately 2–8 business days for delivery. Tracking information will be emailed to you once your order has been dispatched.

Economy Shipping (Untracked) is our low-cost economy option, sent via Australia Post using postage stamps — good old-fashioned snail mail. This service does not include tracking. You'll receive an email confirmation once your order has been dispatched from our warehouse, but no tracking number or delivery updates will be available.

Please allow approximately 5–12 business days for delivery. We do not recommend untracked shipping for time-sensitive orders; please select a tracked or Express service if you need your order by a particular date. Music2u will not replace missing items under the untracked Economy Shipping option.

Customer pickup is available from our Dingley Village, Melbourne VIC 3172 location. Pickup orders are generally processed within 24 hours, Monday–Friday. Once your order is ready, you'll receive an email and text message with your unique parcel locker code. Your order can then be collected from the Music2u Parcel Box 24/7, at a time that suits you. Please wait until you receive your ‘Order Ready’ text/email before arriving to collect your order. Your order will not be available for collection before this notification has been sent.

If an item is unavailable or requires additional time to arrive, we'll contact you by phone or email. If you require an urgent pickup, please contact us before ordering so we can confirm the stock is available onsite.

Pre-Orders

If your order contains both in-stock and pre-order items, the in-stock items will be dispatched using the shipping method selected at checkout.
