Sonny Chua (2 November 1967 – 9 September 2020) was an Australian pianist, composer, and music educator born in Penang, Malaysia who made his life and career in Melbourne. He taught at Melbourne High School and served as Director of Music at Mac.Robertson Girls’ High School and later taught keyboard studies at Carey Baptist Grammar School. Chua wrote a wide range of piano music that appears in Australian examination syllabuses and competitions worldwide and was known for his playful, accessible compositions and contributions to piano pedagogy.
