The Definitive Bartok Edition - Piano Collection Book 1

Explore Bartok's Pedagogical Masterpieces

Delve into the musical genius of Bela Bartok (1881-1945), one of the twentieth century's most influential composers, with "The Definitive Bartok Edition - Piano Collection Book 1."

Born in Hungary and a product of a musical family, Bartok rose to prominence as a celebrated concert pianist and educator at the Budapest Royal Academy of Music. His pioneering work in ethnomusicology, which involved collecting thousands of folk songs across central Europe, profoundly influenced his compositions. This collection showcases seminal works like the "Violin Concerto No. 2" (1937-38) and "Concerto for Orchestra" (1943).

This edition assembles selected highlights from Bartok's pedagogical masterpieces such as "Mikrokosmos" (1926-1937) and "For Children" (1908-09, revised 1943), along with excerpts from "Romanian Folk Dances" (1915) and "Romanian Christmas Carols" (1915). Compiled into two companion volumes for the first time, this 36-page book offers a unique opportunity to explore the depth and breadth of Bartok's work, providing invaluable insights into his creative process and the folk influences that shaped his musical landscape.
