Music For Children - Volume 2 Major: Drone Based Triads 📚

English Version

For Voice, Recorder & Percussion

Music for Children - Volume 2 Major: Drone Based Triads" by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman is a renowned resource for music education. Carl Orff dedicated his life to developing a philosophy of "Music for Children," which emphasises the natural connection between music, speech, rhythm, and movement. His influential work has transformed music and dance education globally and continues to inspire educators worldwide.

Originally published in German between 1950 and 1954, the "Music for Children" series consists of five volumes. Since then, it has been translated into multiple languages and adapted for various countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and many others. This English version, with adaptations by Margaret Murray, caters specifically to the needs of English-speaking teachers and students.

Orff-Schulwerk, as it is commonly known, has revitalised music education in nurseries, primary and secondary schools, and special music schools. Its fundamental principles highlight the interconnectedness of music, dance, and language through rhythm. Children are encouraged to discover, invent, improvise, and compose, fostering a deeper engagement with music. The approach values active participation, both vocally and instrumentally, allowing all students to contribute and express themselves.

The Orff approach encompasses practical music-making, movement games, body awareness exercises, improvisation, and dance forms. It recognises the varied historical notations and sources of music and explores different ways of writing and interpreting music. Teachers trained in Orff-Schulwerk undergo artistic and pedagogical training at the renowned Orff Institute in Salzburg, Austria.

"Music for Children - Volume 2 Major: Drone Based Triads" provides a comprehensive foundation for musical training and offers stimulating materials for music teaching. It encourages creativity, active participation, and the integration of music, dance, and speech as expressive mediums. Carl Orff's quote, "I have done my part, now do yours," serves as a call to action for teachers to embrace the Orff-Schulwerk approach and inspire their students in the realm of music and beyond.
