This edition features four sonatas for flute and harpsichord obbligato (Wq 83–86), composed by C. P. E. Bach between 1745 and 1755 while serving at the court of King Frederick II of Prussia. Originally conceived as trio sonatas, these works are presented here in a version where the harpsichord’s right hand assumes one of the melodic lines, while the left hand provides continuo support only when necessary.

Based on the composer’s autograph and manuscript copies by his friend Westphal, this Urtext edition preserves the authentic character of Bach’s writing. Editorial articulation suggestions in the flute part are clearly marked with broken lines.
