The Rachmaninoff - All-Night Vigil (Vespers) Vocal Score is a music book product that showcases Rachmaninoff's composition for the All-Night Vigil service. Despite being commonly referred to as 'Vespers', this piece is a masterpiece on its own. It incorporates elements from centuries-old Orthodox chant and the performance traditions of Russian folk music. It embodies the ideal of Russian church music as promoted by a group of Moscow musicians of that era. The composer's own imagination, skill, and experience are combined with the expertise developed at the Synodal School of Church Music, including its choir, which premiered the piece at various Moscow concerts.
This edition of the All-Night Vigil has been meticulously prepared to present Rachmaninoff's music in a clear and easily readable format. It also provides a new transliteration of the Church Slavonic text. Additionally, for the first time, an online audio pronunciation guide is included, which will be invaluable for choirs looking to perform this beautiful masterpiece.
Jeremy Summerly, in his review for the November/December issue of Choir & Organ, describes this edition as a "timely publication" and praises its presentation, stating it is difficult to imagine it being presented better. He commends the "immaculate" introductory material that places this culturally complex work in its colorful historical context. Summerly views this edition as a "legible, user-friendly, and authoritative" publication, highlighting its model-like quality.
Stuart Campbell, the editor of this edition, is an esteemed contributor to Russian music scholarship. He has written articles on Russian music for The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians (second edition) and Die neue MGG. Campbell has also published two volumes of his anthology of criticism entitled Russians on Russian Music. He serves as a tutor for the adult-education units of the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow and is the joint musical director, alongside Svetlana Zvereva, of the chamber choir Russkaya Cappella.

Express Shipping is a fully tracked priority Express Service offered through Australia Post and Team Global Express. A tracking number will be provided once your order has been shipped. Please allow approximately 1–2 business days for metro areas and additional time for regional and remote destinations, including some areas of WA, NT and North QLD.
Standard Shipping is a fully tracked service offered through Australia Post. Tracking information will be provided once your order has been shipped. Please allow 2–6 business days for delivery of your order. NT and WA customers should allow approximately 6–8 business days.
Courier Shipping is available to most areas across Australia, with deliveries handled by CouriersPlease, Aramex, Team Global Express or another suitable courier partner, depending on your location. Please allow approximately 2–8 business days for delivery. Tracking information will be emailed to you once your order has been dispatched.
Economy Shipping (Untracked) is our low-cost economy option, sent via Australia Post using postage stamps — good old-fashioned snail mail. This service does not include tracking. You'll receive an email confirmation once your order has been dispatched from our warehouse, but no tracking number or delivery updates will be available.
Please allow approximately 5–12 business days for delivery. We do not recommend untracked shipping for time-sensitive orders; please select a tracked or Express service if you need your order by a particular date. Music2u will not replace missing items under the untracked Economy Shipping option.
Customer Pickup (South East Melbourne)
Customer pickup is available from our Dingley Village, Melbourne VIC 3172 location. Pickup orders are generally processed within 24 hours, Monday–Friday. Once your order is ready, you'll receive an email and text message with your unique parcel locker code. Your order can then be collected from the Music2u Parcel Box 24/7, at a time that suits you. Please wait until you receive your ‘Order Ready’ text/email before arriving to collect your order. Your order will not be available for collection before this notification has been sent.
If an item is unavailable or requires additional time to arrive, we'll contact you by phone or email. If you require an urgent pickup, please contact us before ordering so we can confirm the stock is available onsite.
Tracking Your Order
For tracked shipping services, you'll automatically receive an email with your tracking link once your order has been dispatched. Simply follow the link to view the latest updates on your parcel's journey.

Pre-Orders
If your order contains both in-stock and pre-order items, the in-stock items will be dispatched using the shipping method selected at checkout.
When a single pre-order book becomes available, it will generally be sent separately via untracked Australia Post at no additional shipping charge.
If you would prefer your pre-order to be sent via tracked or Express shipping, please contact us and we can arrange this for you. Additional shipping charges may apply.
If multiple pre-order items become available around the same time, we may combine them into one shipment where practical.
