This substantial piano concerto by John Rutter is a richly expressive and technically demanding work that draws together the many musical styles that have influenced his career. Written in four movements and lasting approximately 31 minutes, the concerto balances brilliance and lyricism, offering the soloist an engaging and virtuosic role throughout.
Scored for solo piano and full symphony orchestra, the work reveals Rutter’s skilful orchestration and confident command of large-scale form. Subtle echoes of composers such as Ravel, Gershwin and Satie are woven into a musical language that remains unmistakably Rutter’s own. John Rutter studied music at Clare College, Cambridge and first came to notice as a composer and arranger of Christmas carols and other choral pieces during those early years; today his compositions, including such concert-length works as Requiem, Magnificat, Mass of the Children, The Gift of Life, and Visions are performed around the world. John edits the Oxford Choral Classics series, and, with Sir David Willcocks, co-edited four volumes of Carols for Choirs. In 1983 he formed his own choir The Cambridge Singers, with whom he has made numerous recordings on the Collegium Records label, and he appears regularly in several countries as a guest conductor and choral ambassador. John holds a Lambeth Doctorate in Music, and in 2007 was awarded a CBE for services to music. In September 2023, he received the Ivors Academy Fellowship, and in 2024 he was knighted in the King's Birthday Honours.

Express Shipping is a fully tracked priority Express Service offered through Australia Post and Team Global Express. A tracking number will be provided once your order has been shipped. Please allow approximately 1–2 business days for metro areas and additional time for regional and remote destinations, including some areas of WA, NT and North QLD.
Standard Shipping is a fully tracked service offered through Australia Post. Tracking information will be provided once your order has been shipped. Please allow 2–6 business days for delivery of your order. NT and WA customers should allow approximately 6–8 business days.
Courier Shipping is available to most areas across Australia, with deliveries handled by CouriersPlease, Aramex, Team Global Express or another suitable courier partner, depending on your location. Please allow approximately 2–8 business days for delivery. Tracking information will be emailed to you once your order has been dispatched.
Economy Shipping (Untracked) is our low-cost economy option, sent via Australia Post using postage stamps — good old-fashioned snail mail. This service does not include tracking. You'll receive an email confirmation once your order has been dispatched from our warehouse, but no tracking number or delivery updates will be available.
Please allow approximately 5–12 business days for delivery. We do not recommend untracked shipping for time-sensitive orders; please select a tracked or Express service if you need your order by a particular date. Music2u will not replace missing items under the untracked Economy Shipping option.
Customer Pickup (South East Melbourne)
Customer pickup is available from our Dingley Village, Melbourne VIC 3172 location. Pickup orders are generally processed within 24 hours, Monday–Friday. Once your order is ready, you'll receive an email and text message with your unique parcel locker code. Your order can then be collected from the Music2u Parcel Box 24/7, at a time that suits you. Please wait until you receive your ‘Order Ready’ text/email before arriving to collect your order. Your order will not be available for collection before this notification has been sent.
If an item is unavailable or requires additional time to arrive, we'll contact you by phone or email. If you require an urgent pickup, please contact us before ordering so we can confirm the stock is available onsite.
Tracking Your Order
For tracked shipping services, you'll automatically receive an email with your tracking link once your order has been dispatched. Simply follow the link to view the latest updates on your parcel's journey.

Pre-Orders
If your order contains both in-stock and pre-order items, the in-stock items will be dispatched using the shipping method selected at checkout.
When a single pre-order book becomes available, it will generally be sent separately via untracked Australia Post at no additional shipping charge.
If you would prefer your pre-order to be sent via tracked or Express shipping, please contact us and we can arrange this for you. Additional shipping charges may apply.
If multiple pre-order items become available around the same time, we may combine them into one shipment where practical.
