Arguably one of most loved and revered distortion pedals of all time, the original Rat distortion was introduced in the late 70s and the circuit remains largely un-changed since that time. What makes a 'Rat' a 'Rat'? Well, namely the chip used in the unit was called an LM308. We are happy to report that this very same LM308 chip is used in the Black Teeth Distortion from Toms Line.
The Black Teeth takes its Rat worship one further by including 3 different versions of the Rat: Normal, Turbo and Solo. Each featuring a slightly different tonality due to their different clipping style. The Rat has famouslyĀ appeared on the pedalboards of the worlds biggest acts for decades. SomeĀ groups have even madeĀ the RatĀ the central driving force of the sound of their band. Check out the Toms Line Black Teeth and experience what all the fuss is about!
Toms Line pedals are built with a tough aluminium chassis and high-quality components, with a protective stop-bar to avoid bumping your controls when engaging the pedal. TheyĀ are powered from a top-mounted, standard 9v centre-negative power supply, and feature side-mounted 1/4" jacks.
