Sceptre Ventana Standard - Double Cutaway 3 Tone Sunburst SSS with Indian Laurel Board by Levinson

A Blend of Vintage Charm and Modern Reliability with the Iconic Sound of the 60s'

The Sceptre Ventana Standard in 3 Tone Sunburst embodies a perfect fusion of vintage charm and modern reliability, echoing the iconic sound of the 60s.

Located amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Big Sur, Ventana has long been a haven for creative souls, drawing inspiration from its natural beauty. It's this very inspiration that serves as the cornerstone of the Sceptre Ventana Series.

Crafted with an Okoume body, the Ventana Standard encapsulates the quintessential sound of the 60s within a contemporary design. The North American hard maple neck and Indian Laurel fingerboard, featuring a 240mm/9.5” radius and a real bone nut, ensure exceptional playability and resonance.

Equipped with three calibrated Levinson S-E1 single coil pickups boasting ALNICO 5 magnets, this guitar delivers the timeless tone characteristic of the era, with a robust top-end bite that effortlessly cuts through any mix. The custom magnet spacing of each pickup guarantees outstanding string-to-string response, while the middle position pickup is reverse wound/reverse poled, providing noiseless operation in positions 2 and 4.

Completing the ensemble, the Ventana Standard features a Wilkinson WOV 02 tremolo and die-cast machine heads, ensuring smooth and precise tuning. A modern classic tailored for today’s discerning musicians, the Sceptre Ventana Standard in 3 Tone Sunburst is a testament to the enduring legacy of vintage craftsmanship and sonic excellence.

THE ORIGIN OF LEVINSON SCEPTRE

It’s been over 50 years since Gary Levinson started building and repairing guitars. He has had the honour of building instruments for some of the world’s greatest guitarists over this expanse of time. During the late 60’s Gary was part of a small but exclusive repair shop in Champaign, Illinois. He met many of the music icons of the 60’s and 70’s when they came to play at the University of Illinois, and did work for everyone from the Grateful Dead to Cat Stevens.

At the University of Illinois, Gary Levinson studied applied and natural sciences and continued this when he came to Basel Switzerland in 1971. The creation of tone is a wonderful science - part Physics and part magic. During Gary's graduate studies at the University of Basel, he continued guitar work and founded Guitars by Levinson in Basel, Switzerland in 1977. This is history and has been a part of the Blade Guitars story over the years.

Sceptre Guitars is the result of using his experience of these 50 years to create a line of instruments of impeccable build integrity with exceptional playability and great tone. All instruments utilise excellent raw materials, top hardware and Gary's new line of Levinson custom wound pickups.

You owe it to yourself as a musician to experience these instruments.
