Sceptre DeSoto Deluxe Double Cutaway See Thru Red - JB Pickups with Roasted & Maple Board by Levinson

Elegant, Beautiful and Packing a Massive Punch

Introducing the Sceptre DeSoto Deluxe Double Cutaway Bass Guitar in See Thru Red, a harmonious blend of elegance, beauty, and formidable power.

Drawing inspiration from the iconic 1957 Chrysler DeSoto, hailed as "the most exciting car in the world today," this bass guitar exudes futuristic styling, engineering ingenuity, and a touch of 1950s glamour. With its striking translucent finishes and meticulous craftsmanship, the DeSoto series pays homage to this era of automotive excellence.

Crafted with a North American Alder body complemented by an American white ash overlay, the DeSoto Deluxe boasts both visual appeal and robust construction. The North American hard maple neck, adorned with a black walnut fingerboard, offers a comfortable playing experience, featuring a 34”/86.36 cm scale, a 400mm /16” radius, and a real bone nut.

Equipped with two Levinson JB pickups, meticulously designed with ALNICO 5 magnets and reverse wound/reverse coiled for noiseless operation, this bass guitar delivers rich, versatile tones suitable for a variety of musical styles. With its active electronics system, including master volume, pan/balance, treble boost/cut at 7 kHz, and bass boost/cut at 40 Hz with up to 13dB of gain, the DeSoto Custom offers unparalleled tonal flexibility and control.

Completing the package is a rock-solid bridge featuring individual saddles with tracks and a 19mm pitch, ensuring optimal intonation and stability during performance.

Elegant, beautiful, and capable of delivering a massive punch, the Sceptre DeSoto Deluxe Bass Guitar embodies the perfect fusion of timeless design and modern functionality, making it an essential addition to any bassist's arsenal.

THE ORIGIN OF LEVINSON SCEPTRE

It’s been over 50 years since Gary Levinson started building and repairing guitars. He has had the honour of building instruments for some of the world’s greatest guitarists over this expanse of time. During the late 60’s Gary was part of a small but exclusive repair shop in Champaign, Illinois. He met many of the music icons of the 60’s and 70’s when they came to play at the University of Illinois, and did work for everyone from the Grateful Dead to Cat Stevens.

At the University of Illinois, Gary Levinson studied applied and natural sciences and continued this when he came to Basel Switzerland in 1971. The creation of tone is a wonderful science - part Physics and part magic. During Gary's graduate studies at the University of Basel, he continued guitar work and founded Guitars by Levinson in Basel, Switzerland in 1977. This is history and has been a part of the Blade Guitars story over the years.

Sceptre Guitars is the result of using his experience of these 50 years to create a line of instruments of impeccable build integrity with exceptional playability and great tone. All instruments utilise excellent raw materials, top hardware and Gary's new line of Levinson custom wound pickups.

You owe it to yourself as a musician to experience these instruments.
