Ferdinand Beyer (1803-1863) was a German composer and music teacher. He is best known for his piano method book titled "Vorschule im Klavierspiel" (Preparatory School for Piano Playing), commonly referred to as Beyer's Method. The book provides a progressive approach to piano technique and musicality, making it a popular resource for piano students. Beyer's Method continues to be used and studied by piano teachers and students around the world.

"Vorschule im Klavierspiel," was initially intended for his own children. Beyer wrote the method as a guide to help his children learn to play the piano, but it gained widespread popularity and became a standard resource for piano education. Despite being originally intended for personal use, Beyer's method has had a significant and lasting impact on piano pedagogy, and it continues to be a widely used and respected tool for piano instruction.
